Eiríkur Stephensen

Eiríkur Stephensen (b. 1967) is a biologist and musician. He has played saxophone and clarinet with various bands (e.g., Júpiters, Hringir, Spaðar, Látún, and Smurjón) and has composed music for some of these groups. He completed a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Gothenburg in 2003 and earned an M.Mus. degree in composition from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2023. He is one half of the saxophone duo Saxi & Sachsi, who produced a radio series with the same name on Rás 1 in 2024. In 2018, his novel Boðun Guðmundar was published, and in 2025 he released the solo album Eirrek.
