Ása Önnu Ólafsdóttir

Ása Önnu Ólafsdóttir is a composer, sound artist, guitarist, and improviser. She goes by the artist name Asalaus and has been active in the underground music scene in Reykjavík. Ása has released a few albums, both as Asalaus and as a member of the bands Ateria and Gaffer Ensemble. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of sources, Ása blends elements from each to create works that are both familiar and wholly original. Her practice is focused on experiments with sound and notation and is currently a student of the Sound Art MFA program in Columbia University.
