Ágúst M. Pétursson

Ágúst Metúsalem Pétursson was born on June 29, 1921, at Hallgilsstaðir in Norður-Þingeyjarsýsla, but grew up nearby on the farm Hafnir by Finnafjörður. He was the son of the couple Pétur Metúsalemsson and Sigríður Friðriksdóttir. At the age of nineteen, in 1940, he moved to Vestmannaeyjar where he completed his journeyman’s examination in cabinetmaking, the trade in which he worked for the rest of his life, mostly with Gamla Kompaníið in Reykjavík.
