Helgi G. Ingimundarson

Helgi grew up in Grindavík until the age of 12 when his family moved to Reykjavík. He graduated from Menntaskólinn in Reykjavík in 1950. Helgi studied at the University of Iceland, first at the School of Engineering but later graduated as cand. oecon. from the School of Business in 1956. During his studies he worked as a musician, playing saxophone in a brass band and orchestras. After completing his university studies, he began working at the Sales Center of the quick-freeze houses where he worked throughout his career, first as a representative and later as office manager, retiring in 1989. He attended meetings of the Price Equalization Fund of the fishing industry and the Price Council of the fishing sector on behalf of SH in the years 1965-85. He ran his own fishing business in the years 1972-73. Social and voluntary work: Member of the Board of the Reykjavík Chess Club 1958-60. Member of the Wage Committee of the Reykjavík Merchants Association 1970-80. Member of the Wage Research Committee of the Association of University Graduates 1970-80. Member of the Board of the Reykjavík Bowling Club 1985-87. Member of the Board of the Skjaldar Pension Fund from 1986-90.
