Jónas Þorbergsson

Jónas Þorbergsson was born at Helgastaðir in Reykjadalur on January 22, 1885, and died on June 6, 1968. He served as a member of Alþingi for Framsóknarflokkur from 1931 to 1933 and was Director-General of RÚV from its founding in 1930 until 1953.

Jónas was also editor of the newspaper Dagur in Akureyri from 1920 to 1927, and editor of Tíminn in Reykjavík from 1927 to 1929. In addition, he authored books of various kinds and wrote a large number of articles for newspapers and magazines.
